What is med pay coverage on a car insurance policy?

Medical payments or med pay coverage on the auto insurance policy is a regardless of fault coverage that pays for medical or funeral expense after a car accident.

In New York State med pay is an important coverage because the mandatory PIP or personal injury protection coverage also known as no fault coverage does not respond in the event that drugs or alcohol are involved in the accident. Only med pay responds.
